Porto

Today we got to Porto. It’s the second largest city in Portugal and it is where Port wine comes from.  We went on the 2 trains and a long walk to get there.  When we got to our apartment we dropped off our bags and went to explore. There was a performer who could blow a trumpet sound with only her mouth. Then we got dinner I had a hamburger. My dessert was a tiny lime pie it was so good. After that we went home and had a great night’s sleep.

This is me in the caboose watching the tracks and scenery on the way to Porto.
This is the lady who can make an EXACT trumpet sound with her mouth! And she had a really good singing voice. We watched for a whole hour. Her sign said @ESTRELA.GOMES

Today we woke up and went to a bakery called Padaria Ribeiro. I had an apple custard filled pastry. Then we went to the park. Me and Anna (My sister) played at the park for a while and then walked to a McDonalds (yep they even have those here too) The reason we went to McDonalds is because we read that this McDonalds is very unusual.  It has chandeliers and stained glass fancy windows and was very beautiful. I got a Happy Meal with French Fries,Soda,Pineapple stick, Cheeseburger and a toy. I got to order on a touchscreen kiosk.  No one else ordered anything. Then we went to a sandwich place that my parents wanted to try for some special sandwich, a Franceshina. My mom and my dad had that sandwich and Anna got french fries. We also had olives and bread and crispy long thin crackers. The food there was really good. After that we went home.

Me at Padaria Ribeiro with my custard pastry.
There were so many good parks in Portugal! This was our favorite in Porto.
This was a fun post that you could sit on and twist and get dizzy.
This is the famous bookstore where JK Rowling was inspired. It’s called Livraria Lello.

This was at a park made in 1860!! We played UNO on this table while we waited for the men to blow the leaves off of the playground area. It is called Crystal Palace Gardens park and it has really good views of Porto and the river Douro.

Today mom made us a different breakfast and it was sooooooooooooo good it was an omelet with ham squares! We also had our first homeschool day HOORAY! After our lesson we went to lunch and had codfish it was awesome! It is the most common food in Portugal and they call it Bacalhau and it is everywhere. The restaurant where we went was like homemade food and there is no menu. They just bring you whatever the lady in the kitchen makes and it was so delicious.

Then we went to a park it was amazing! We played there for a while and then went to another park. The one I mentioned after we had the pastries two days ago. After that we went to the Grocery store and after that we went home. The Grocery stores here are tiny and some of the fruit is rotten.

The weather here is nice it is always sunny outside and it’s never cloudy. Our apartment is nice  it has a cozy living room a nice family room and one bedroom. Me and Anna sleep on the pull out couch. I can’t wait to see our next apartment.

First day of HOMESCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first lesson was fun!! I like learning about geography.
This is where Anna and I slept for three nights in Porto. It was soooooo cozy!!!!!

I feel excited and nervous about going to France. I heard the food is really good. I also heard the architecture is really cool. I know everything won’t be easy but I know that we will be all right.

  1. You will love France! I’m so happy you are having such a great time and exploring new foods! McDonald’s is always fun to check out in a foreign country too. I would very much like to go to such a fancy McDonalds and see if the fries are just as good as at home 🙂

I look forward to your next post. Keep up the amazing writing. You are learning so much!
