France!

FRANCE

8/21/2019 Today we got in a uber to go to France we got to the airport and went through security.  The Porto Airport is really nice and has a good lounge!! Then we got on the plane we met a boy named Hugo (pronounced You-Go). He’s from France and we tried to talk on the plane but it was hard because I couldn’t speak French and he could only speak a little English. But we still became friends. When we got to France we got a uber and went to our apartment.  We got to our apartment and had to find the keys it was a treasure hunt. After we found the keys (1minute later) we went up to our room. When we got in there was a hallway and a bedroom next to the hallway and a living room which had another bedroom next to it. I liked the apartment. Then we had to go grocery shopping. We always drop off our backpacks when we get to a new place and then go right to the store for food and water and soaps.

Me leaving Porto!
Lots of good Duty free stuff at the Porto airport. At a Duty free you can buy things and not pay extra taxes and fees. There is a lot of perfume. And alcohol and cigerettes. But there is also a lot of CANDY!!! We don’t buy anything at Duty free because our backpacks are too full.
Anna and me having snacks at the lounge before our flight to Marseille.
A huuuuuuge Chupa Chup at duty free!! Sadly, I couldn’t buy it.
This is our apartment in Aix-en-Provence.
We were so tired when we got to our apartment but we had to go to the grocery store. This is what we got.

8/22/19 Today we got up and got to eat crepes!! We had to go to the library for home school. And we explored the streets and relaxed.  We also went to the park in the afternoon with dad. At the park I found a big stick it was really fun to play with.  Then we went home and watched a movie. The people who had the apartment before us must have been British, because the Netflix account that was on the TV had ALL OF THE HARRY POTTER MOVIES!!!!!! Our American Netflix doesn’t have any Harry Potter movies. We got soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo LUCKY!!!!!!

Crepes and NUTELLA!!!!!!!!!
Anna and me in our room.
This is us one of the days at the French library (Bibliothèque de la Halle aux grains ) where we had our school lessons with mom.
Me on the computer at the library. The library was mostly older people reading the newspaper. It was small. It had a kids section. We had to wait for a while to get a table before we started lessons and mom couldn’t get the wifi working on her computer. And then we found out that the whole city has free wifi and anyone can use it. Just like in Lisbon and most cities. It’s nice that wifi is free for everyone all over the cities in Europe.
Here is the park and the big walking stick I found.
Another park that we loved. It took us 35 minutes to walk to this park. The painter Cezanne liked this park too.

Today we woke up and went to the market.  The markets here are outside everyday in a square or open area. There is food, meats, cheeses, lavendar, honey, seafood, and fruits and vegetables. The food is very fresh and ripe and always is high quality. We took our food back home and made lunch. Then we went to four big trampolines the thing was called Bungee Jumpers.  You got on one of the trampolines and had two strings attached to you and a harness, you jump and you go reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally high. After that we went home.

These are real fish heads!!! The market has so many interesting foods.
At night the area where the market was turns into the sitting area for the restaurants around the square. They all put out their tables and chairs and everyone eats late and its really beautiful.
Here are lots of herbs and spices. It smelled so good at the market.
SPICES!!!!
Me on the Bungee Jumper!!
We also got to ride the Cezanne Carousel!!
Dad, Anna, and I rode the Cezanne double decker carousel. It has little Cezanne paintings on it. He used to live in Aix-en-Provence and his art is all over the city. He painted nature and people and he loved this city and the mountains around it. One mountain that he painted a lot is Sainte Victoire. We drove past it on the way to Avignon and it looks just like the painting.
Sainte Victoire
There are a lot of art things and creative spaces in France. Same in Lisbon. We’re under a bunch of umbrellas on clotheslines. Somebody put it there just for fun and beauty.

There are a lot of bakeries and churches in France. The bakeries are called Patisseries and they have really delicious desserts and foods. My favorite were the citron macarons, citron is lemon. There are so many churches. We went into some really really old ones. They were big and some had dead bodies buried under the floor!!! I thought it was creepy.

This was our favorite patisserie. It was called Weibel. We got pizza and quiche there and lots of macarons!!!!!!
Macarons and moms pink water!!!! Just kidding, it’s her rose wine.
Lots of pastries at the patisseries.
One of the churches. Its called Cathédral Saint Sauveur and part of it was built in the 400s AD!!!! The aqua thing is a big organ.

Today is our last day here. We went to a bakery.  Then the market. Then the apple store (we did that because we were waiting for our dad to finish the stuff we need to do to get our rental car for tomorrow). We played games on the tablets at the apple store. It was fun. Tomorrow we are going to a place called Cassis and Cannes TO THE BEACH!!!!!!

Chillaxing with our Kindles.
These eggs were from the outdoor market, REALLY fresh!!!! There was a chicken feather on one of the eggs.
We tried to learn the French words for things.
This was my favorite!!! Haha!!!! Table Table prounouced (ta-blah).
