9/3/19
Hello. Today I left my France home in Cannes. I left to go to Italy!!! We had to go on three trains to get to Santa Margherita. Santa Margherita is on the coast just like Cannes, except it is further to the east or to the right on the map. If you find Cannes, keep going east along the coast past Nice (our first train change) out of France and into Italy, then go past Genoa (that’s where our 2nd train connection was and where Christopher Colombus was born) and you’ll find the little town.
When we got there we had to walk for a few minutes before reaching our apartment. A guy named Stefano showed us around our new place. When he left, my brother and I found a toy. It was a air hockey puck. Then we played hockey with our walking sticks till our parents said it was time to go to dinner. The dinner place was called Osteria No. 7. It was on the sea shore. My brother and I played on the rocks. For dinner I got octopus with potatoes and Sprite. When I got home, I had to take a shower. After that I got a bathrobe!!!! Then I played a game with my brother. Then I went to bed. It was a fun first day in Italy!!
The next day (9/3) we had school. We went to the library all morning. The wifi worked and we did our lessons. This library had a kids room too!!! Of course all of the kids books were in Italian, but they were fun to look at. After school, we had lunch and went to the beach. The beaches here are pebbles and not as much sand. But the water feels the same as Cannes.
The next day (9/4) we did some lessons and then went hiking! We went along the coast and through the forest on a path until we reached Portofino. On the hike back we found a lot of places to stop and swim. Our favorite one was a rocky cove in Portofino where we swam for a long time and found a bunch of huge sea glass pieces!!We will be in Italy for a WHOLE MONTH but we are leaving here tomorrow for Lucca.
This brings back so many memories of me visiting Genoa for a few years. Seeing these pictures gave me goosebumps.
We miss you guys and can’t wait to see you when you get back!!
Anna- I don’t think anything can beat New York pizza. And I’m glad they had octopus there too! You are SOOOO lucky to be on that trip.
