8/18 PORTO!!!
Arriving in Porto was FUN!!!!!!! We took a train there!! When we got to the train station in Lisbon we couldn’t find our train car number 25. We found out that it was broken and was taken off of the the train! So we had no where to go. The boss working on the train said we could go on the first class train. The seats had tables and were big and cozy. It also had air conditioning and a private bathroom!!! When we got to Porto, we took another train to the city center station!!! When we got to the right station it was beautiful! Everything was beautiful!! The Porto Sao Bento train station was soooooooo amazing. The walls were painted tiles and a grand ceiling. The whole city, the old historical part, is a UNESCO world heritage site.
The streets in Porto all have animals. There are dogs and chickens and cats and pigeons and seagulls. And there are a lot of street performers. They all have very interesting music insturments. The people there are sooooo nice and funny and play little tricks on you. There was a guy that had real chickens and was twisting a bar to make music and the chickens danced to the music. Also a guy was playing on a acordian and he had a little chiwawa that was holding a little tip bucket. I put a tip in the bucket. The dog was so cute.
There is a bridge in Porto over the river Douro that boys were jumping off. The bridge the Ponte de D Luis, was made of wrought iron lattice by a student of Mr. Eiffel who made the Eiffel tower in Paris. Trains go across the top of the bridge. Cars and people go across the lower part of the bridge. We walked across the bridge and it was really fun. It was very dangerous to jump off the bridge but those boys kept doing it for fun and for people to clap at them and they were asking for money.
There are also a lot of yummy pastries in Porto just like in Lisbon. We liked the food better in Porto.
I really love Portugal and especially Porto. I hope I can go again someday. Next we are going to FRANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing Anna and Cole! Thanks for sharing your travels
Hi Anna! Porto looks amazing. You sure know how to travel in style. The train looked very fancy! My favorite photo is of the cat and bird neighbors. You should write a story about them. Do you think they are friends? Lol.
We started school today. It’s fun to be back, but it felt like a long day. It’s really really hot here right now.
I’m excited that you are going to France. Paris is one of my favorite places in the whole wide world!
